₹370
biryani.

what should have been said

what happened

At a crowd-work comedy show, audience member Himanshu Jangra told a story about a date where he felt he needed to "recover" the ₹370 spent on biryani after she asked to be dropped home. The audience laughed, a lot. Comedian Pranit More indulged the storytelling, called it a "Peak Gurgaon moment" and then decided the interaction was Instagram engagement worthy to be capitalised for traction.

It got traction. The clip went viral. People responded, held Himanshu to account by getting him fired, and eventually Pranit apologised, said the remarks didn't reflect his views, and pulled the clip.

We're left wondering. Pranit could have really done just about anything else to shut it down and discourage the worldview and behaviour Himanshu felt was absolutely normal. Men would know what that "just about anything" could have been.

what do you think he could have said or done instead?

One line. A hard stop. A question back. What does calling it out actually sound like?
